The Redeemed Christian Church of God (Redeemed Christian Church of God) has dismissed allegations that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, has ever campaigned in support of any government in Nigeria.
The church made the clarification in an official statement released on Tuesday, describing the claims as inaccurate and misleading.
Church Reaffirms Political Neutrality
According to RCCG, Pastor Adeboye has consistently maintained a non-partisan stance in matters of politics.
The church stressed that his public messages have focused on civic responsibility, encouraging members to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections without endorsing any political party.
Clarification on Protest and Prayer Programme Claims
The statement also addressed reports suggesting that Pastor Adeboye called off a planned protest.
RCCG explained that what occurred was a communication regarding adjustments to a prayer programme, following directives from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), not a political intervention.
Adeboye’s Public Engagement on National Issues
The church further stated that the cleric has consistently spoken on issues affecting the nation, including insecurity, governance, corruption, and economic hardship.
However, it emphasized that his approach is rooted in moral guidance and spiritual counsel rather than partisan political activity.
Church Rejects Misrepresentation
RCCG concluded by rejecting what it described as repeated false narratives about the pastor’s political involvement.
It maintained that neither Pastor Adeboye nor the church will be defined by misinformation circulating online.
