The Ogun Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly linked to a kidnapping and murder case in the Okada area of Edo State, in a breakthrough that underscores growing inter-state collaboration in the fight against violent crime.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Gafaru Adamu and 20-year-old Muhammed Sanni, were apprehended in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following intelligence-driven investigations conducted by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
According to the police yesterday, the arrests followed an update to an earlier press release issued on June 4, 2026, announcing the apprehension of two male suspects and the commencement of investigations into their activities.
It was learnt that subsequent profiling and intelligence gathering reportedly revealed their alleged involvement in a kidnapping and murder incident that occurred in the Okada axis of Edo State.
Police investigations indicate that the duo are believed to be members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate connected to the crime under investigation.
During the operation, security operatives recovered one pair of police camouflage uniforms and three mobile phones from the suspects, exhibits which investigators say could provide crucial leads in the ongoing case.
The suspects were initially apprehended by personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service before being handed over to the police for further investigation.
The Command noted that the alleged offences were committed outside Ogun State and disclosed that, in accordance with established inter-state policing procedures, the suspects and all recovered exhibits would be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the professionalism and diligence of the operatives involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the swift identification of the suspects and recovery of critical exhibits demonstrated the Command’s commitment to combating criminality.
He reaffirmed that the Ogun State Police Command remains determined to prevent criminal elements from using the state as a haven or transit route for unlawful activities.
The latest arrest comes amid intensified security efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle kidnapping networks operating across state boundaries and restore public confidence in security operations nationwide.
