Oyo Abduction: Makinde Hails N Air Force Support in Ongoing Rescue Operation

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has commended the Nigerian Air Force for its support in ongoing security operations following recent abductions in parts of the state, describing the service’s surveillance and intelligence contributions as critical to ongoing rescue efforts.

The governor gave the commendation while receiving a delegation led by the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Abubakar Abdul Suleh, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on a courtesy visit to the Governor’s Office.

Makinde said the visit provided an opportunity to appreciate the Nigerian Air Force for its assistance in addressing the current security challenges confronting Oyo State, particularly in the wake of recent abductions in affected communities.

He noted that aerial surveillance missions conducted by the Air Force had provided valuable intelligence and operational insights, improving the understanding of ground realities faced by troops engaged in rescue and security operations.

According to him, the integration of air surveillance and ground operations has strengthened coordination among security agencies and enhanced the overall response to emerging threats in the state.

The governor also referenced the surveillance aircraft procured by his administration, stating that the platform is currently stationed at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Lagos pending final assembly and deployment.

He expressed optimism that the aircraft would be delivered and deployed soon, noting that it would further strengthen the state’s capacity for intelligence gathering, monitoring, and rapid response once operational.

Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with necessary tools and partnerships to ensure the protection of lives and property across Oyo State.
