The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed tactical assets across the state in a show of force aimed at strengthening the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
The exercise was carried out in line with the directive of the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Audi, to enhance security around strategic national assets and reassure residents of the agency’s operational readiness.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday, was led by the Head of Operations, DCC Ahmed Jubril, and involved personnel from several specialised units, including the Operations Department, Armed Squad Unit, Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, Operation Harmony, Mines and Steel Unit, Mining Marshals, and the Special Duties Unit.
During the exercise, officers visited key facilities across the state, including railway corridors, power installations, Agba Dam, and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) facility at Challenge, Ilorin.
The NSCDC team engaged the management of the facilities, stressing the need for sustained collaboration to safeguard critical infrastructure against vandalism, theft, economic sabotage, and other security threats.
The Command said the show of force was intended to demonstrate its preparedness to respond to emerging security challenges, deter criminal activity, and reinforce the protection of facilities vital to national development and public welfare.
The Kwara State Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies in support of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
