The Tor Tiv and Chairman of the Benue State Council of Chiefs and Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty James Ayatse, has pledged continued support for the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
The monarch made the pledge when the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Makurdi Zonal Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Effa Okim, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Gboko, Benue State.
Speaking on Tuesday during the visit, Ayatse commended the EFCC for its sustained efforts in combating corruption, describing the Commission’s work as critical to strengthening accountability, good governance, and national development.
He assured the EFCC of his continued commitment to supporting the anti-graft campaign, stressing that traditional institutions have a key role to play in shaping public values and discouraging corrupt practices at the grassroots.
“I will not relent in supporting the EFCC in stamping out corruption in Nigeria,” the Tor Tiv said.
Earlier, Okim expressed appreciation to the monarch for receiving the delegation and for his consistent support for the anti-corruption drive.
He called for deeper collaboration between the traditional institution and the Commission through sustained public sensitisation and advocacy against economic and financial crimes, particularly at the community level.
According to him, strengthening partnerships with traditional rulers would enhance awareness, improve intelligence sharing, and support the EFCC’s preventive approach to fighting corruption.
