The Legislative Council of Katcha Local Government Area in Niger State has suspended the council’s Vice Chairperson, Maryam Dauda, for three months over allegations of gross misconduct and insubordination.
The suspension was contained in an official letter signed by the Leader of the House, Mohammed Abdullahi, and addressed to the vice chairperson.
In the letter dated Thursday, the Legislative Council stated that it unanimously resolved to suspend Dauda after “serious debates and deliberations” over allegations of misconduct and acts of insubordination against the Executive Chairman and the local government administration.
According to the council, the suspension will last for three months and takes immediate effect, following approval by members during plenary.
“The House has unanimously resolved on your suspension for three (3) months as a result of gross misconduct and acts of insubordination to the Executive Chairman and Katcha Local Government administration,” the letter read.
However, the council did not disclose specific details of the allegations that led to the disciplinary action.
