The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has reserved its ruling on the bail application of controversial social media influencer and self-styled relationship expert, Blessing CEO, in connection with an alleged N36 million fraud case.
Justice D.I. Dipeolu adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, after hearing submissions from both parties on Friday.
Blessing CEO, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, is facing a two-count charge filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), bordering on alleged obtaining by false pretence and stealing.
According to the EFCC, the influencer allegedly collected N36 million from Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye between July 14 and July 17, 2024, under the guise of securing a lease for a six-bedroom detached duplex in Lekki, Lagos.
The anti-graft agency claimed the representation was false and that the money was later diverted for personal use.
The court’s ruling on the bail application will determine whether the defendant remains in custody while awaiting trial.
Blessing CEO was arraigned on May 15, 2026, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
During the proceedings, her counsel, P.I. Nwafor, informed the court that she had refunded N24 million to the complainant and sought time to settle the remaining balance. The defence also stated that discussions were ongoing and that the complainant was willing to discontinue the matter once the outstanding amount was paid.
However, EFCC counsel, S.I. Suleiman, opposed the request, arguing that the case was being prosecuted by the Federal Government and not the complainant, and therefore could not be halted by any private settlement.
Justice Dipeolu ruled that while both parties were free to continue settlement talks, such discussions would not affect the criminal proceedings. He subsequently ordered that the charges be read to the defendant, who entered a not-guilty plea.
Following the arraignment, the court remanded Blessing CEO in EFCC custody pending the hearing of her bail application and fixed a date for trial.
Known for her outspoken views on relationships, marriage and celebrity lifestyles, Blessing CEO has remained one of Nigeria’s most controversial social media personalities, frequently making headlines over public disputes and legal controversies.
The EFCC’s prosecution is among the most high-profile criminal cases currently involving a Nigerian social media influencer. If found guilty, she could face sanctions under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act and other applicable laws.
The case was adjourned until June 9, 2026, for a ruling on the bail application.
