Military Airstrikes Neutralise Scores of Terrorists, Destroy in Borno

Air components of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully carried out a precision interdiction mission against terrorist elements in the Gashigar axis of Mobbar Local Government Area, Borno State, resulting in the neutralisation of several insurgents and the destruction of their hideouts.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at approximately 6:05 p.m. on June 15, 2026, following sustained aerial surveillance that detected the movement and regrouping of suspected terrorists in settlements located about three kilometres northeast and 3.3 kilometres north of Gashigar.

According to military sources, the terrorists were initially observed moving in small groups before converging at a structure identified as a key assembly point within one of the settlements.

Acting on the intelligence, air assets executed a precision strike on the location, destroying the structure and inflicting significant casualties on the terrorists.

Subsequent surveillance revealed additional fighters moving from nearby buildings towards the targeted site, apparently attempting to regroup. In response, a second precision strike was launched, successfully engaging the emerging threat and disrupting further terrorist activity in the area.

A Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted after the operation confirmed the destruction of the targeted structure and the neutralisation of numerous terrorists. Several others were observed fleeing the area in disarray following the strikes.

Military authorities said exploitation operations are ongoing to consolidate the gains achieved during the mission and to further restrict the freedom of movement and operational capabilities of terrorist elements within the general area.
