The Kano State Government has ordered the closure of two private health training institutions in Nasarawa Local Government Area over alleged regulatory breaches and failure to meet the minimum standards required for operating health schools.
The affected institutions, IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology, were shut down following findings that they were operating without accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies.
Investigations also uncovered several deficiencies, including lack of qualified teaching staff, inadequate learning facilities, poor infrastructure, and failure to comply with established regulatory standards.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar, the ministry said the decision followed a comprehensive assessment that revealed both institutions were running illegally without proper approval or verification.
According to the statement, the action became necessary to safeguard the integrity of healthcare education and ensure the competence of future health professionals.
The ministry stressed that the institutions violated professional ethics and guidelines essential for effective health manpower development.
“The Ministry of Health remains committed to protecting students, parents, and the general public from institutions that compromise educational quality and professional standards. The training of healthcare workers must only take place in institutions that meet approved regulatory requirements,” the statement read.
The government warned proprietors of health training institutions across the state to strictly adhere to legal and regulatory provisions or risk sanctions.
It added that the closure of non-compliant schools was necessary to ensure quality healthcare education, protect students’ interests, and maintain standards in the health sector across Kano State.
