JUST IN: President Tinubu Makes Fresh Appointment [PHOTO]

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Kunle Elebute as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The announcement, was made in a statement by the presidency on Thursday.

The Government, in the release, stated that the appointment reinforces its commitment to strengthening corporate governance, enhancing investor confidence, and deepening transparency and accountability within the nation’s financial reporting ecosystem.

Mr. Kunle Elebute

Mr. Elebute is a Chartered Accountant and financial management consultant with over forty years of professional experience across Nigeria, West Africa, and global markets. He previously worked as a Senior Partner and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Nigeria, Chairman of KPMG West Africa, and Chairman of KPMG Africa.

Throughout his career, he also served on regional and global boards for KPMG, including its Global Board Audit Committee, and has advised leading institutions in the financial services, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, and public sectors.

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria holds a critical position in setting and enforcing financial reporting, auditing, actuarial, valuation, and corporate governance standards.

According to the statement, Mr. Elebute’s appointment comes at a vital time as the council advances key institutional priorities, such as ongoing engagements under the UK–Nigeria Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership.
