Israel’s military has confirmed that Iran has launched a second wave of missiles towards its territory, with sirens sounding across the country as tensions between both sides continue to escalate.
The development follows Israeli strikes on several Iranian cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan, where multiple explosions were reported.
The escalation also comes after Israel’s strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which reportedly killed at least two people and injured about 20 others.
In response, Iran accused Israel of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements and launched missile attacks towards northern Israel, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Earlier, explosions were reported in central Tehran, including areas near the Foreign Ministry, with local media saying the exact cause and location of some blasts were still unclear. Air defence systems were also activated in several parts of the capital.
Israeli forces said they carried out “an extensive strike against strategic defence systems” in Iran, involving dozens of fighter jets.
Iranian state media also reported that a drone described as belonging to the “US-Zionist enemy” was intercepted over Tehran, while additional blasts were heard in Isfahan.
Amid the growing tensions, United States President Donald Trump called for restraint in a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He later told The Financial Times that “he’s the one calling all the shots.”
