An Igbomina leader and President of Egbe Omo Igbomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has felicitated with former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on his 57th birthday, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian whose life has been marked by courage, patriotism, philanthropy and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals.
In a statement commemorating the occasion, Fakayode said Hashim’s contributions over the years have extended beyond politics, leaving a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s democratic evolution, youth development and humanitarian causes.
He noted that Hashim distinguished himself during the country’s pro-democracy struggle by standing firmly against oppression and defending the rights of ordinary Nigerians, adding that his public life has remained rooted in integrity, service and national unity.
“Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has consistently demonstrated that leadership is about service, sacrifice and commitment to the common good. His life remains an inspiration to many Nigerians,” he said.
Fakayode recalled that Hashim played a significant role in nurturing democratic values in Kwara State and across the country by investing in people, strengthening institutions and supporting credible political engagement at a critical period in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
According to him, several individuals who have excelled in public service and other fields benefited from Hashim’s mentorship, encouragement and commitment to developing future leaders.
He also commended the celebrant’s humanitarian efforts, noting that Hashim has quietly supported education, youth empowerment, vulnerable families and other charitable causes without seeking public recognition.
“His greatest legacy lies not only in the political struggles he has championed but in the countless lives he has impacted, the opportunities he has created and the hope he has given to many Nigerians,” Fakayode stated.
Describing Hashim as a bridge-builder, Fakayode said his national outlook and inclusive approach to leadership exemplify the kind of values needed to strengthen Nigeria’s unity and democratic growth.
“Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim represents the Nigeria we all aspire to build—a nation where character, competence and service transcend ethnic, religious and regional differences,” he added.
He prayed for God’s continued protection, wisdom, sound health and greater opportunities for service as Hashim marks his 57th birthday.
“Nigeria is richer for his contributions. May Almighty God grant him many more years of impactful service to humanity and the nation,” Fakayode said.
