The younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Olaide John-Paul, has been kidnapped alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
As gathered, the 43-year-old woman and her children were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday while she was on her way to drop them off at school.
Confirming the incident, media aide to the former minister, Femi Awogboro, said in a statement that the family is deeply distressed but urged members of the public to remain calm.
“The family appeals for calm and assures that every effort is being made to secure the safe release of the victims,” the statement read.
The family reiterated that its priority remains the safe return of John-Paul and her children unharmed.
At the time of filing this report, the state police had yet to provide details on the identities of the kidnappers or any ransom demands, while security agencies have intensified efforts to track and rescue the victims.
