Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to the possibility of facing Lionel Messi and Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The veteran forward said a meeting with his long-time football rival would be a special moment if both teams eventually meet in the tournament.
Ronaldo spoke after helping Portugal secure a convincing 4-0 victory over Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

The result moved Portugal to the top of Group K with four points as they continue their campaign at the tournament.
Ronaldo played a key role in the win, scoring twice to maintain his impressive form on the international stage.
Speaking about the possibility of playing against Messi, the Portugal captain said it would be a great occasion.
“Facing Leo Messi at the World Cup? The question doesn’t make a lot of sense… but okay. It would be top,” Ronaldo said.

Ronaldo added that his immediate focus remained on Portugal’s progress in the competition.
