A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Frederick Agbedi, has expressed confidence that former President Goodluck Jonathan has the capacity to reunite the party and lead it to victory in the 2027 general election.
Speaking in an interview on ARISE News on Wednesday, Agbedi dismissed concerns about divisions within the PDP, arguing that internal challenges were common in political organisations and could be overcome under Jonathan’s leadership.
Agbedi said Jonathan possessed the influence and leadership ability to bring members of the party together and restore confidence in the PDP as a credible platform for Nigerians.
According to him, “He has a capacity to whip every member of the party you know to order and ensure that we come back collaborate work together you know to ensure that we have victory in 2027.”
The PDP chieftain maintained that despite claims of fragmentation within the party, Jonathan remained capable of rebuilding its structures and strengthening its chances ahead of the next presidential election.
He said, “ I think that the PDP and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has the capacity to reorganise this party and use it as a platform that Nigerians will believe in because Nigerians are looking for a credible candidate and a platform going to suck into and in this situation I can also tell you that the individual the individual President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan can be the one that can drive this PDP that you feel that is a lot divided united and strengthen this party for victory.”
Agbedi further argued that Jonathan remained a popular figure among Nigerians and could serve as the rallying point for the opposition party ahead of 2027.
“He is the person Nigerians want,” he said.
