Army arrests two gunmen terrorising Plateau communities

Troops of the Nigerian Army have carried out an enforcement aimed at curbing insecurity and arrested two gunmen accused of terrorising residents of several communities in Plateau state.

The gunmen were apprehended after troops acted on intelligence reports indicating the presence of criminal elements operating from a concealed location, in an operation, which involved a cordon-and-search exercise at the suspect’s hideout.

It was gathered that the operation, carried out around 2:35 a.m yesterday, at the Great Commission RUGA area of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area was said to havedemonstrated the military’s commitment to denying criminals safe havens

An Army official, who held that the case is under investigation and the accused duo in military custody, disclosed that preliminary findings were being compiled as investigators continue to question the gunmen and gather additional information that could assist ongoing security operations.

Adding further, the source said the gunmen would be handed over to the appropriate agencies for further action once the investigation process is completed.
