FCT: Foundation commissions first borehole project in Kpere community

Residents of Kpere community in Kwali area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja have hailed Aqua and Shelter Help Foundation for commissioning a new borehole project aimed at providing clean and safe water to the people.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, weekend, founder and trustee of Aqua and Shelter Help Foundation, Sulaiman Adeyemi Andu, described the project as a significant milestone for the community.

Addressing traditional rulers, community elders, women, children, development partners and invited guests, Andu explained that the project was funded by Bluenest Ltd as part of its commitment to sustainable community development.

According to him, the Foundation conducted extensive needs assessments across several communities, including Keffi, Gwagwalada, Kwali, Mpape, Lugbe, and Kpere, to identify where its first intervention would have the greatest impact.

“While every community had genuine needs, Kpere emerged as the community with the most urgent need and the greatest potential for immediate impact,” he said.

The assessment revealed that Kpere had lived without reliable access to clean water for over 30 years, relying largely on a stream and wells that had gradually dried up as many households were forced to treat water with alum before use, highlighting the urgent need for a sustainable water solution.

In a personal note, he thanked his wife, Abimbola, and their sons, Mukhtar and Jubril, for their unwavering support and encouragement.

Also speaking, the village head of the area, Mr Bako appreciated the Foundation for providing water in his village.

The village said the project will go all the way to serve all Nigerians as every tribe in the country was living in his community.

Goodwill messages were given by the Kings College Old Boys 91 Set, led by  Major General Aminu Umar, Samuel Danga, Saidu Musa, Jibrin Kamba, Dr Amdala Adedayo Okusanya, ,traditional  and spiritual leaders in the community and other stakeholders.
