The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos State, has handed over a large consignment of suspected illicit pharmaceutical products, a vehicle, and two suspects to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further investigation.
This was disclosed in a post on the agency’s official X account on Friday.
According to NAFDAC, the items handed over include seven cartons containing 346,700 tablets of Tamral Tramadol Hydrochloride 250mg and five cartons containing 250,000 tablets of Natizol 5mg.
Also handed over were a black Toyota Hilux vehicle and two male suspects allegedly linked to the seized products.
The agency said the handover was received by its Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, who will oversee further investigation and regulatory action on the matter.
NAFDAC noted that the seizure and transfer of the products underscore the ongoing collaboration between the agency and the Nigerian Customs Service in combating the illegal importation, distribution, and sale of regulated pharmaceutical products across the country.
