The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Oyo State has remanded two men, Qozeem Ishola and Hammed Aliyu over offences of fraud amounting to N8 million.
The court held a sitting against Ishola of age 42 and Aliyu, 35, after their arraignment by the police over alleged conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence, and stealing, remanding them till their next re-arraignment for further trial.
The duo, who pleaded not guilty to the charges on Wednesday, were said to have been committed between December 2025 and February 2026 at Apara junction near Ajia, Ibadan, as disclosed by the Prosecutor, Olufemi Olanibi, who alleged that the defendants fraudulently obtained ₦8 million from one Ajeigbe Sodiq, the complainant, under the pretext of selling him a plot of land.
Olanibi told the court that the defendants knew their representation was false, as they failed to provide the land but made away with the money, adding that the charges contravene Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
Presiding Magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦5 million each, with two sureties in like sum after which she adjourned the case until July 27 for hearing, stressing that the matter would proceed in line with due legal process.
