A French footballer, kenzo Kies, has died following a devastating drowning incident in a river, which has led to lots of emotional tributes by the football world.
Kies, who passed on at age 21, was declared brain dead by medical practitioners after he was rushed to a hospital by a mob who tried to save his life after bringing him out of the water unconscious.
The mishap which happened at the Rhhone River in Lyon yesterday at about 5:30pm had four people in danger but three of them were rescued without need of medical intervention, but the Frenchman could not be saved despite interventions held on his recovery.
The deceased, who played as a winger, spent a significant part of his youth career playing for Lyon after joining the club in 2010. He progressed through the club’s academy system and featured for both the youth and reserve teams over an eight-year period.
Following his departure from the club, he joined Saint-Etienne, where he continued his development before leaving the club at the end of his contract last summer, after which he signed for the reserve side of Ligue 2 outfit, En Avant Guingamp, hoping to continue his rise in French football.
At just 21 years of age, Kies was regarded as a talented young player with his best years still ahead of him, making the circumstances surrounding his tragic accident all the more heartbreaking.
