A Federal High Court sitting in Lafia has granted bail to a grassroots mobiliser and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Jibril Baggio, over his alleged involvement in the defacement of solar panels installed by the state government along the Lafia-Jos Highway.
Baggio was arraigned before the court on charges of wilful destruction of property, an offence said to be contrary to and punishable under the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
The court granted him bail on Monday but ordered that he be remanded in a correctional facility pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
The APC chieftain is accused of defacing the government-installed solar panels with campaign posters of his preferred political aspirant several months ago.
According to the prosecution, the act amounted to the wilful destruction of public property, leading to his arraignment before the Federal High Court in Lafia.
Although admitted to bail, Baggio will remain in custody until he satisfies all the conditions attached to his release.
