Borno police rescues 6yr old boy from kidnappers den

Operatives of the Borno State Police Command have successfully rescued a 6-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Maiduguri and arrested the suspect responsible for the crime.

The rescue operation followed a report regarding a missing child, one Alkali Musa, a 6-year-old boy of Mafoni area, Maiduguri, who had gone out to play on June 6, 2026, but failed to return home.

Preliminary investigation revealed that shortly after the child’s disappearance, the suspect contacted the parents and demanded a ransom of ₦200,000 for the child’s release.

Upon receipt of the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Lamisula Division promptly mobilized a team of detectives and commenced an intelligence-led operation, which led to the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the victim unharmed.

According to the command Spokesperson, Nahum Daso, on Friday, the suspect during interrogation confessed to the crime and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

Reacting to the rescue operation, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, commended the swift response of the officers involved in the operation and reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
