APM chairman Dantalle honoured with beacon of hope award

The Northern People’s Front (NPF) has conferred its prestigious ‘Beacon of Hope’ award on the National Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, in recognition of his leadership qualities and contribution to national development.

The award, scheduled for 30 July, was announced during a courtesy visit by the group’s convener, Alhaji Ali Abacha, and his delegation to the APM headquarters in Abuja’s Central Business District.

Presenting the letter of award, Abacha commended Dantalle, who also serves as Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Nigeria, for his purposeful, people-centred and visionary leadership style, which he described as “Allah-fearing” and exemplary.

“As the watchdog and assemblage of objective, forward-looking, patriotic and progressive leaders of Northern extraction, we are committed to encouraging public officers who view public service as a trust that must not be betrayed – a test you have surpassed,” Abacha stated.

He noted that the group’s decision was influenced by recent political developments that have positioned the APM as a leading opposition party, driven largely by Dantalle’s credibility, integrity and principled approach.

Describing the APM chairman as a “rare breed and consummate politician” who genuinely places Nigeria first, Abacha added: “For all your qualities and strivings to make Nigeria a better place, we are proud to inform you that you have been nominated for this prestigious ‘Beacon of Hope’ award – purely on merit.”

The award ceremony is expected to draw political stakeholders and civil society leaders, further underscoring the growing recognition of Dantalle’s role in fostering political accountability and good governance.
