The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has confirmed the death of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Olayinka Fasuyi, the assembly expressed deep grief, stating that the monarch passed away on May 6, 2026, and “joined his ancestors.”
The ICDA described the late ruler as a respected custodian of tradition and a key unifying figure in Esa-Oke and across Ijesaland.
It noted that his reign was defined by wisdom, calm leadership, and a strong dedication to peace, unity, and community progress.
He was also praised for his sense of duty and the honour with which he carried out his responsibilities.
According to the statement, Oba Adediran played a significant role in preserving the cultural heritage of Esa-Oke and providing steady leadership during challenging periods.
Beyond his traditional role, the monarch was said to have supported initiatives aimed at improving education, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting development within the community.
The ICDA further described him as a fatherly figure whose leadership deepened unity and reinforced communal bonds, adding that his influence extended beyond Esa-Oke to the wider Ijesaland.
Condolences were extended to his family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, and the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
