The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has disclosed that it would begin screening for its aspirants to determine the flag bearers for the 2027 general elections.
The PDP, in an issued circular, stated that contestants in the party for seats at states House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential polls would be accessed as part of its preparatory activities in ensuring victory for the party as well as prerequisites for the election.
The political association relayed that the exercise begins with the seekers for state legislative houses which would be held on Friday, May 15, followed by the House of Representatives billed for the next day, as well as Senate, Gubernatorial and Presidential billed for Monday, May 18th, all to be supervised by committees set aside for each category, adding that applicants who get screened out have the opportunity to appeal on May 21.
It also revealed that it would hold its ward congresses alongside meeting up with resolutions in all categories at all 8809 wards in the country on or before Saturday, May 30, as well as screening and endorsement of all eventual congress winners scheduled for Monday June 8 and 9.
Upon a successful screening, the flag bearers would begin campaigning for the general election on Wednesday August 19 till September 9th, after which nomination for party agents to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, would be held from Thursday December 14th, 2026 till February 4, 2027.
The PDP also informed that its flag bearers would then hold campaigns from Thursday 14 January 2017 till February 4th in readiness for the actual general election scheduled for Saturday January 14 and February 6th, 2027.
