Kebbi state government has reinvigorated its Urban Development Agency (KUDA) for massive, effective evacuation of refuse and drainages with the onset of the rainy season.
At a ministerial press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Monday, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hayatudden Ahmad Bawa, said trucks and pay loaders of the agency had been refurbished for optimal operation.
He said, “Priority areas identified include upgrading of township roads, installation of solar-powered street lights, expansion of single-lane roads, clearing of drainages to ease flow of water to address recurring flooding.
“To ensure consistent clean environment, sanitation of major roads in the state capital is in progress.
“Other areas enjoying solar street lights are Zuru, Augie, Bunza, Yauri, Argungu and Koko-Besse.
“About N2.4 billion was expended on the supply and installation of more than three thousand street lights in these locations,” Bawa said.
