The Ghanaian police has suspended five of it’s officers after finding them culpable of seeking for bribe from while on duty at a mining site.
The police expressed disatisfaction over a viral video showing the officers seeking for bribe while at an illegal mining site, disclosing that the alleged act is a disrepute to the standards of the security agency.
While confirming the suspensions yesterday, the security force informed that the personnel given the sanctioning, Chief Inspectors Matthew Blay and Francis Arthur, alongside inspectors Eric Osei and Joseph Asabre, as well as Sergeant Amos Dery, who was of the Osu Police Station, the National Protection Unit and the Obuasi Police District, have been handed over to the Police Professional Standards Bureau for investigations.
The force relayed that investigations would be conducted in line with it’s internal disciplinary procedures to determine the approach action.
It reiterated that it remains commited to professionalism integrity and accountability, and also assured the public keeping to standards in it’s quest to ensure a law abiding society.
