TCN Commissions New Transmission Strains To Strengthen Nationwide Grid

The Transmission Firm of Nigeria has strengthened the nationwide grid with the commissioning of latest transmission line connections on the Ihovbor hall, geared toward bettering energy evacuation and enhancing grid stability.

The undertaking entails the turn-in-turn-out connections for the Ihovbor/Benin and Ihovbor/Ajaokuta 330kV transmission strains, which have been efficiently commissioned at 19:05 on Wednesday, April 23, 2026.

In keeping with a press release by the Normal Supervisor, Public Affairs at TCN, Ndidi Mbah, on X on Friday, the event supplies further evacuation capability for the Niger Delta Energy Holding Firm (NDPHC) and Azura Energy crops, bettering the flexibility to transmit generated electrical energy to the nationwide grid.

The corporate confirmed that the Ihovbor/Benin transmission line is presently carrying about 200 megawatts, whereas the Ihovbor/Ajaokuta line is transmitting round 90 megawatts.

TCN mentioned the brand new infrastructure is predicted to reinforce the reliability of electrical energy provide by decreasing transmission constraints within the hall and strengthening total grid efficiency.
