INEC Rejects Calls For Chairman’s Dismissal 

The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee has dismissed requires the elimination of its chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), whereas addressing what it described as widespread misconceptions surrounding its deliberate nationwide voter revalidation train.

In an announcement issued on Thursday evening in Abuja and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, the Fee mentioned its consideration had been drawn to “current public statements by political actors alleging partisan bias, calling for the elimination of the Chairman of the Fee on account of the choice of the Fee to obey the current Court docket of Enchantment Judgment.”

Whereas acknowledging the appropriate of stakeholders to precise their views, INEC pressured that its operations and management construction are constitutionally protected.

“It’s crucial to make clear that INEC is a creation of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The appointment, tenure, and elimination of the Chairman and Nationwide Commissioners are strictly ruled by Part 157 of the 1999 Structure (as amended),” the Fee said.
