Gombe 2027: Transportation minister, Mentioned Alkali, resigns

Mentioned Alkali, Minister of Transportation, has resigned from his place to contest the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, Umar Jibril, the minister’s Particular Assistant on Media and Publicity, stated the resignation adopted a presidential directive requiring all political appointees looking for elective places of work to step down by March 31.

“The minister is resigning to contest for the governorship within the upcoming elections. In his letter, he expressed deep appreciation to the President for the chance to serve, citing vital progress made within the transportation sector throughout his tenure,” the assertion learn.

“The President has accepted the resignation and thanked the Minister for his devoted service to the nation.”

President Bola Tinubu had appointed Alkali as Minister of Transportation on August 16, 2023, as a part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s transportation sector, together with roads, rail, and logistics.
