A 30-year-old man, Ofobuike Damian, has appeared earlier than Justice of the Peace’s Court docket II in Abakaliki for allegedly stabbing his aged mom to dying.
Damian, whose deal with was not disclosed, is going through a one-count cost of homicide, to which he pleaded responsible.
The prosecutor, Mr. David Njoku, a senior state counsel, advised the court docket that the defendant dedicated the offence on March 19, 2026, at Ohatekwe, Ukawu in Onicha native authorities space of Ebonyi state.
Njoku stated: “The defendant brought on the dying of his mom, Mrs. Onyema Damian, by stabbing her with a knife at her again.”
He added that the offence is punishable beneath Part 319 of the Felony Code, Cap 33, Vol. 1, Legal guidelines of Ebonyi State, 2009.
The defendant, who had no authorized illustration, admitted to the crime, telling the court docket: “I don’t know what actually occurred, however I can keep in mind that I killed her over her refusal to wash me.”
In his ruling, the Chief Justice of the Peace, Mr. Chinedu Agama, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre, noting that the court docket lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
