Carissa Sharon Oyakhilome has revealed that she only learned how to cook after gaining admission into the university, where she relied on guidance from her mother.
Oyakhilome, daughter of prominent Nigerian pastor Chris Oyakhilome, said she did not develop an interest in cooking while growing up, which delayed her learning the skill.
She explained that moving away from home for her university education made her realise the importance of basic life skills, particularly cooking.
According to her, she contacted her mother for step-by-step instructions on meal preparation, marking the beginning of her journey to becoming confident in the kitchen.
“I did not enjoy cooking while growing up. When I got into the university, I had to call my mother to teach me,” she said.
She added that the experience underscored the importance of learning essential domestic skills early in life, especially for individuals living independently.
