FG Wants APC States to Speak With One Voice on Tinubu’s Policies

The Federal Government has urged commissioners of information in states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to coordinate their communication strategies and speak with one voice in projecting the policies and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the call on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting with APC commissioners of information from 20 states.

Idris said effective communication was essential to governance, noting that Nigerians needed to understand the objectives, challenges and expected benefits of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the Federal Government’s reforms were designed to strengthen the economy, expand opportunities, improve infrastructure and promote national development.

“Effective communication is no longer optional. It is an essential instrument of leadership, governance and public engagement,” the minister stated.

He urged the commissioners to strengthen communication networks between federal and state institutions, share verified information and make effective use of traditional and digital media platforms to reach citizens.

The minister also cautioned against misinformation and disinformation, stressing that credibility, transparency and responsible engagement were necessary to sustain public confidence in government.

“Our greatest asset is public trust, and that trust can only be sustained through accuracy, transparency, consistency and responsible engagement,” he said.

Idris further called on the commissioners to pay attention to citizens’ concerns and incorporate public feedback into government communication strategies.

He described the meeting as an opportunity to establish a sustained partnership among information managers at the federal and state levels.

“Effective communication is a two-way process. We must pay attention to citizens’ concerns, understand public sentiment and ensure that feedback informs how government engages with the people,” he added.

The meeting was attended by 20 commissioners from APC-led states, with discussions focusing on intergovernmental communication, information coordination and public engagement.
