‘I Want to Fight Etinosa Next’: Phyna Celebrates Historic Knockout of Nkechi Blessing

Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos on October 1, 2026.

The event, held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, also featured a professional championship fight in which Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Nigerian champion Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.

Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, made history in the opening celebrity contest after knocking out Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing during their scheduled four-round fight.

The victory made Phyna the winner of the event’s first female celebrity boxing bout.

After the fight, Phyna called out actress Etinosa Idemudia as her potential next opponent, saying the actress had repeatedly contacted her through direct messages.

Etinosa, who watched the contest from ringside, accepted the challenge and said she was ready to face Phyna.

Phyna reportedly received ₦50 million for winning the bout and also indicated that she could pursue boxing beyond the celebrity contest, raising the possibility of a professional career in the sport.

In the second celebrity fight, Carter Efe defeated musician Speed Darlington by technical knockout after dominating their four-round contest.

The referee stopped the fight after Speed Darlington stopped moving, handing Carter Efe another victory in the Chaos in the Ring series.

The result extended Carter Efe’s unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing series. He had previously defeated singer Portable in a three-round contest at the same Federal Palace Hotel venue on May 1, 2026, winning by unanimous decision after all three judges scored the fight 30-27.

The Carter Efe and Speed Darlington bout followed a heated build-up between the two entertainers, who traded confrontational remarks before eventually settling their rivalry inside the ring.
