A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Farouk Aliyu, has criticised Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his recent remarks describing some APC governors as “politically lazy” and “419ners.”
Aliyu spoke on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, amid the ongoing disagreement between Wike and the APC Governors’ Forum over his proposed “Rainbow Coalition” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The dispute followed a statement by the APC Governors’ Forum, led by Imo State Governor and its chairman, Hope Uzodimma, rejecting any political arrangement that could undermine the APC or its candidates.
Wike subsequently responded during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, describing the APC governors as “politically lazy” over their opposition to his political initiative.
Reacting to the remarks, Aliyu said the language used by Wike was unacceptable to members of the ruling party.
Aliyu warned Wike against making comments capable of creating further tension within the APC, stressing that the party would not accept the description of its governors as “lazy 419ers.”

“We in APC reject this name calling by Wike, calling our governors ‘Lazy, 419.’
“Wike cannot decide for us how we run our campaigns, and it is totally unacceptable for us to any coalition in such a way that, vote for Tinubu and another party. No, no.
So it is very, very uncalled for someone that is trying to help us now to be insulting members of our party.”
