The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate operating in Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were allegedly involved in a series of armed robbery operations in which vehicles were snatched from their owners at gunpoint.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, in a statement on Sunday, operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS), acting on actionable intelligence, conducted coordinated operations in Kaduna State and Abuja between August 14 and 19, 2026, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects were identified as Ahmed Saidu, also known as Diamond ‘M’; Alex Gabriel, alias Junior ‘M’; and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond ‘M’.
The police said the suspects confessed during interrogation to their alleged involvement in the criminal activities and implicated one Yakubu Yewa, alias Y/Come, as the suspected kingpin of the syndicate.
The Force said Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery.
According to the police, further investigation revealed that Yewa allegedly coordinated and directed the syndicate’s armed robbery operations and the disposal of stolen vehicles within Nigeria and outside the country.
Two vehicles were recovered during the operations, including a red Toyota Corolla and an army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
