The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old school proprietor, Ahmed Bello, over the alleged defilement of a nine-year-old pupil in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at the suspect’s school after the girl returned from the school’s First Aid Office, where she had gone to receive medication. The proprietor allegedly summoned her to his office, where he was said to have sexually assaulted her before giving her herbal medicine and asking her to leave.
The police said the report was received at about 12:30 a.m. on August 22, 2026, after the girl disclosed the alleged abuse to her mother.
Speaking on the incident on Friday, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, said the girl’s mother reported the matter to the command after hearing her daughter’s account.
Faniyan said the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination, while Bello was arrested for questioning.
The commissioner added that the suspect was paraded alongside 22 other suspects arrested for various offences in the state.
He said investigation into the allegation was ongoing, adding that Bello would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.
