Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has banned graduating students from engaging in what it described as wild jubilation after completing their final examinations.
The university management warned that students who violate the directive could face sanctions, including the cancellation of examinations affected by the violation.
The Registrar, Mrs Oluwayomi O. Agbebaku, announced the directive in a statement dated September 16, 2026, addressed to deans, heads of departments and students.
The statement, titled “Prohibition of Wild Jubilation as Second Semester Examinations for 2025/2026 Academic Session Ends,” said the ban applies during and after the examination period.
According to the university, prohibited activities include vehicle, motorcycle and bicycle parades, pouring water, sand or drinks on people, alcohol consumption, shouting, hooting, dancing and other activities considered capable of leading to disorder or criminal behaviour.
The management also prohibited the use of the area around the university’s Administrative Building for motorcades.
AAU said its Senate policy against wild celebrations by graduating students remains in force and that the latest directive places a total ban on such activities within and outside the university campus.
The university warned that anyone caught violating the directive would face sanctions under its regulations.
Such sanctions, according to the statement, could include cancellation of the examination or examinations connected to the offence.
The management urged graduating students to wait until the university’s next convocation ceremony to celebrate their graduation.
Deans and heads of departments were also directed to remind students about the policy and explain the consequences of failing to comply.

The directive comes as the university concludes its second-semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session.
