The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State Command, has clarified that a corps member, Adewebi Opeoluwa, was neither missing nor kidnapped, contrary to reports circulating online.
Adewebi, who is serving at St. James Grammar School, Ayetoro, in Olorunda Local Government Area, became the subject of concern after her mother was unable to reach her for several days.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the NYSC Osun State Public Relations Officer, Otemuyiwa Catherine, on behalf of the State Coordinator, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha.
According to the command, Adewebi has since confirmed that she is safe and accounted for, adding that the concern over her whereabouts arose from a communication gap between her and her mother.
The development followed an online report claiming that the corps member, identified by registration number OS/26A/5230, had been missing since September 20.
However, Adewebi, in a public notice and retraction dated September 28, said she was neither missing nor in danger.
She explained that the alarm was raised in good faith after her mother became worried when attempts to contact her failed.
Adewebi apologised for the anxiety and confusion caused by the report and appreciated those who expressed concern over her welfare.
The NYSC command assured the public that there was no cause for alarm.
