Moses Simon has reflected on a decade with the Super Eagles after making his 100th appearance for Nigeria.
The 31-year-old reached the milestone during the Super Eagles’ 2-1 victory over Mozambique at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday.
Simon entered the game in the 61st minute, bringing up a century of international appearances as Nigeria began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a win.
Simon: ‘It’s a privilege’
The Nantes winger shared an emotional message on Instagram following the landmark, describing his century of appearances as a moment filled with gratitude.
“100 caps. One shirt. One country. A thousand emotions. To represent my country once is an honour. To do it 100 times is a privilege I will never be able to fully put into words,” Simon wrote.
He thanked Nigeria for giving him the opportunity to represent the country, while also acknowledging the supporters whose encouragement and criticism have accompanied his international career.
Simon also paid tribute to his teammates, coaches, staff and family, as well as members of the media who have followed and documented his journey.
“100 appearances is not just a number. It represents years of sacrifice, unforgettable victories, painful defeats, lessons, friendships, dreams and memories that I will carry with me forever,” he said.
A decade with the Super Eagles
Simon’s international career began in 2015 after he received his first call-up from Daniel Amokachi.
He made his debut on March 25 of that year in a friendly against Uganda before scoring his first Nigeria goal later in September during a 2-0 victory over Niger.
Ten years on, Simon has become one of the most experienced players in the current Super Eagles squad.
Across his 100 appearances, the winger has contributed 12 goals and 18 assists.
Simon ended his tribute reassuring his commitment to the national team, writing: “100 times, and I would choose it all over again. For the country. For the people. For the badge. Always.”
