Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodinma, of waging a political war against him.
Wike alleged that the two governors have failed to reciprocate the political support he extended to them in the past, accusing Abdulrazaq in particular of spearheading a campaign against him.
The former Rivers governor, while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, alleged that Abdulrazaq had been “championing” a campaign against him and disclosed that he had personally confronted the governor over the matter.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” he said.
According to Wike, Abdulrazaq had accused him of sponsoring candidates against the governor’s preferred choices in Kwara State.
The minister argued that the governor should instead appreciate his role in providing a platform for aggrieved APC chieftains who left the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rather than joining the coalition opposed to President Bola Tinubu.
Wike also spoke about his strained relationship with Uzodinma, recalling that the Imo governor had at some point declined to support him.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike said.
Despite the disagreements, the minister said his priority remained supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and that he would not allow personal differences with the governors to distract him from that objective.
Wike maintained that he had never hidden his political intentions and challenged those accusing him of working against APC governors to identify the support they had given him during his own political battles.
“Any Nigerian who knows me know that I have never hidden my intention,” he said.
