Widows and other vulnerable residents in Lagos are set to receive a fresh lifeline as the Grace and Hope Child Care Foundation rolls out an empowerment and welfare programme aimed at easing hardship and helping beneficiaries build more sustainable livelihoods.
According to the organisers, the programme is designed to combine immediate welfare support with empowerment opportunities that can help beneficiaries improve their economic circumstances and become more self-reliant.
The foundation said the intervention, tagged “Outreach for Widows,” will hold on October 1, 2026, at Ayetoro Primary School, Akoka, Lagos, with widows and vulnerable families expected to be the major beneficiaries.
The initiative is anchored on the theme, “Sharing Hope, Nourishing Lives, Building Stronger Communities.”
The foundation said its areas of intervention would include education, empowerment, food support, care and welfare, as well as community outreach.
It explained that the education component would promote access to knowledge and opportunities, while the empowerment segment would focus on skills capable of enhancing self-reliance and improving beneficiaries’ livelihoods.
The food-support component, according to the foundation, is intended to meet immediate nutritional needs, while the care and welfare arm would provide assistance to vulnerable people facing difficult circumstances.
The community outreach component would also seek to strengthen solidarity and encourage collective support for families and individuals in need.
The foundation said the October 1 programme forms part of its broader vision of “Caring Today, Building a Brighter Tomorrow,” which focuses on improving the welfare of vulnerable people and contributing to stronger communities.
It added that the intervention was inspired by the biblical injunction in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.”
According to the organisers, the outreach is intended not only to provide material relief but also to remind vulnerable residents that they remain an important part of the community and deserve support and opportunities to improve their circumstances.
The foundation said its philosophy is captured in its vision, “People, Communities, Brighter Future,” with emphasis on reaching people, touching lives, creating opportunities and building a brighter future.
