A fire outbreak has damaged parts of a multimillion-naira residential property at Spring Valley Estate, Oranmiyan, Osun State, affecting sections of a five-bedroom duplex.
The fire, suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge, affected the kitchen and basement of the building before firefighters arrived and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the property.
It was gathered on Monday that the incident occurred at about 5:38 p.m. yesterday at Spring Valley Estate, located beside the Arts and Culture Centre in Osogbo.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the spokesperson for the Federal Fire Service in Osun, Omoyemi Ojo, said its officers were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency alert from one Tunde Balogun.
Ojo said firefighters discovered on arrival that the flames were restricted to the kitchen and basement of the duplex, which was being used as a residence.
She added that personnel from the Federal Fire Service, assisted by their counterparts from the Osun State Fire Service, successfully brought the situation under control.
According to her, no life was lost and no casualty was recorded in the incident.
Ojo said the property was initially estimated to be worth about N200m, while the extent of the damage caused by the fire was still being assessed.
She advised residents and property owners to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against electrical faults that could trigger fire outbreaks.
