Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Nigerian international winger Femi Azeez from Championship side Millwall on a four-year contract.
Brighton confirmed the deal on Wednesday, September 2, following a late conclusion to negotiations after the two clubs submitted a deal sheet before the initial 11pm transfer deadline. The deal sheet extended the deadline to 1am, allowing the transfer to be completed.
The transfer fee was officially undisclosed by Brighton. However, reports before the completion of the move indicated that the initial fee was around £12.5 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the overall package beyond £15 million.
Azeez, 25, joins Brighton after an impressive 2025/26 campaign with Millwall, during which he played an important role in the club’s push for the Championship play-offs.
The winger made 77 appearances for Millwall, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists during his time at the club. His performances in the 2025/26 season earned him places in both the PFA Championship Team of the Season and the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
Brighton sporting director Mike Cave welcomed the Nigerian, describing him as one of the Championship’s most exciting attacking players.
“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the play-offs,” Cave said.
Azeez began his football career in the Watford youth system before moving into non-league football, where he represented Northwood, Wealdstone and Hanwell Town. He subsequently joined Reading in 2019 before moving to Millwall in 2024.
His move to Brighton also marks another significant step in his international career. Azeez made his senior debut for Nigeria in June 2026 and made an immediate impact, scoring both goals in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe before providing an assist in Nigeria’s subsequent 3-0 win over Jamaica.
The transfer takes Azeez into the Premier League for the first time and gives Brighton another attacking option as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.
