The Nigerian Army has arrested three suspected terrorists while allegedly transporting N2.7 million in ransom money and mobile phones in Katsina State.
The suspects were identified as Habibu Hamza, 35; Inusa Iliya, 15; and Umar Isihu, 16.
According to the Army, the suspects were intercepted in Faskari Local Government Area while travelling on a motorcycle with the money and communication devices allegedly meant for delivery to a terrorist commander.
The Army said preliminary questioning on Friday indicated that the suspects were allegedly taking the items to Alhaji Gadani, identified as a younger brother of the late Ado Aleru, and another individual, Zailani Shu’ibu.
The recovered items included N2.7 million in suspected ransom money, one Android phone and two Tecno mobile phones, the Army said.
Gadani was believed to be operating from Yankuzo village, while Shu’ibu was said to be around Unguwan Tsamiya, both in Faskari LGA.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits were subsequently transferred to the 17 Brigade Provost Group for further investigation and necessary action.
