In a social media post on Wednesday, Leavitt, 28, described her decision as “bittersweet” shortly after President Donald Trump revealed her resignation. She had recently resumed her duties at the White House podium following the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May. Additionally, she has a 2-year-old son.
What Led to Leavitt’s Exit?
But was this all sudden and/or abrupt?. Not according to some reports. The reason for Leavitt’s departure stems from her post that addressed the need to focus on family.
As per a report from the Daily Mail, this was not a sudden decision at all, in fact, she had been ruminating over this decision post during her maternity leave.
The report from the London-based outlet stated that Leavitt had evaluated all possibilities before her resignation, as US President Donald Trump frequently contacted her during her maternity leave to enquire about her return date.
Another report indicated that Leavitt faced significant burnout following her return in July.
The report also noted that Trump exerted his utmost efforts to retain her and persuade Leavitt to remain in her position. Individuals familiar with the press secretary’s situation mentioned that Leavitt was prepared to resign but wished to do so only after receiving Trump’s “blessing.”
Meanwhile, despite her impending departure, Leavitt still does not seem to be out of the Trump orbit.
