GOV. Dapo Abiodun says his administration has reconstructed over 42 roads in Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state over the last seven years .
Abiodun stated this on Friday while inaugurating the 3.5km Adesan road project in Mowe-Ofada in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
He noted that the construction of the road was part of efforts to improve infrastructure and promote economic development across the state.
He said he had remained fair, just and equitable in the distribution of infrastructure across the state.
The governor said that upon assuming office on May 29, 2019, he pledged before God and the people of Ogun to deliver on his campaign promises.
According to him, the administration has reconstructed a total of 1,600 km of roads across the state within the last seven years.
Abiodun said the achievements reflected the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and driving economic development across Ogun.
He assured residents that his administration would award and complete more road projects before the end of its tenure.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and delivering projects that positively impact the lives of the people.
He urged residents of Ofada and neighbouring communities to protect the newly reconstructed road and use it responsibly for its intended purpose.
According to him, Ofada is widely known for its famous rice and remains a strategic community bordering Lagos State with a rapidly growing population.
He said Obafemi-Owode served as home to millions of residents and businesses due to its proximity to Lagos, making infrastructure investment imperative.
He expressed satisfaction with the completion of the road, noting that it would connect communities, markets, and businesses while facilitating easier movement between Ogun and Lagos.
“I want to assure you that we will remain a promise keeping administration and for those who live here, ensure that this road serve the purpose for which it was designed and reconstructed,”he said.
Also speaking, a member representing Obafemi Owode at the State Assembly, Damilola Soneye, commended the governor for reconstructing a major community road.
Soneye said the project had transformed transportation, improved livelihoods and significantly increased property values.
“This road was in a deplorable condition for years, making movement difficult for motorists and residents before the intervention of Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
“The newly completed road has brought relief to commuters and residents while opening up the area for greater economic activities,” he said.(NAN)(
