Two persons have sustained injuries after the press bus attached to the Cross River State Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, crashed in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Tuesday as the Government House Press Bus was returning from Obanliku Local Government Area, where Odey had attended a stakeholders’ engagement on the proposed concession of the Obudu Ranch Resort.
The bus, which was conveying some appointees and staff of the Deputy Governor’s office, reportedly veered off its lane near an Army checkpoint in Ugep before crashing into three sandbag barricades.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known, as investigations were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
Two occupants were said to have sustained injuries in the incident. One was reportedly seen with an apparent leg injury, while another was observed bleeding from the nose.
The extent of their injuries could not immediately be ascertained, as they were expected to undergo medical assessment.
The Deputy Governor was not in the vehicle and was reportedly unhurt.
When contacted, his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Abua, promised to provide further details on the incident but had yet to respond as of the time of filing this report.
