Super Falcons midfielder joins Oshoola’s team in Saudi Arabia

Super Falcons midfielder, Christy Ucheibe, has left Portuguese club, Benfica, to join Saudi Arabian outfit, Al Hillal, ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Ucheibe penned a two-year contract with Al Hilal in a deal which is expected to run till the summer of 2028, after a five-year stint with Benfica, the move which records the third club she has signed for in her ongoing career.

The transfer, which was completed yesterday, affirms her link up with Super Falcons teammate, Asisat Oshoola, who also ply her trade with the Saudi club following her move there from American side, Bay FC, last year.

During her trophy-laden spell with Benfica, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder won six consecutive league titles, five League Cups, two Portuguese Cups and two Super Cups.

Ucheibe, who had earlier played for Assi IF in Sweden as well as Nasarawa Amazons in Nigeria, has bagged seven goals in her ongoing club career, six for Benfica where he amassed 91 appearances, and one for Assi in 24 games.

The versatile player made her debut for the Super Falcons in 2022 and has managed three goals for the West African team in 32 matches, winning the 2024 edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
