Top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the South-West have intensified preparations for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, holding a high-level strategy meeting in Lagos to fine-tune the party’s campaign and reinforce its drive for victory at the polls.
The gathering also featured the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, who described the engagement as a critical platform for reviewing campaign plans, aligning political strategies and strengthening the party’s resolve ahead of the keenly contested election.
The closed-door meeting, held yesterday at the Lagos State House, Marina, brought together Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Ondo State counterpart, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, APC elder statesman and former interim national chairman, Bisi Akande, as well as the party’s governorship candidates from Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states, Sharafadeen Alli, Olamilekan Yayi, and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
According to Oyebamiji, the meeting reaffirmed the unity and cohesion of the APC in the South-West and underscored the determination of party leaders to mobilise support across Osun to secure victory on August 15.
He said the consultations focused on deepening collaboration among party stakeholders, harmonising campaign efforts and ensuring that the APC presents a united front throughout the electioneering period.
“The meeting presented an opportunity to review our plans, align our efforts and reinforce our shared commitment to delivering victory for the All Progressives Congress in the August 15 governorship election,” he said.
The Osun guber candidate added that the wealth of experience and strategic guidance provided by party leaders had further strengthened the campaign’s confidence and readiness for the electoral contest.
“We reaffirmed unity, effective collaboration and shared determination as the pillars strengthening our party within the region. I am inspired by the invaluable insights, encouragement and unwavering support of our leaders, whose experience continues to strengthen our resolve to build a winning campaign and offer Osun the purposeful leadership it deserves,” he stated.
The APC candidate reiterated that his campaign remains focused on restoring sustainable economic growth, expanding opportunities for young people, empowering residents and delivering responsible governance capable of improving the standard of living across Osun State.
He pledged to sustain grassroots consultations and stakeholder engagements throughout the campaign, promising to approach the exercise with sincerity, humility and a clear development agenda.
“Our mission remains clear: to restore sustainable economic growth, create opportunities for our youth, empower our people and deliver responsible governance that will improve the lives of every resident of Osun State. We will continue to engage stakeholders and communities with sincerity, humility and a clear vision for a prosperous future,” he said.
Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, he thanked the APC leadership, members of the National Campaign Council and supporters across the state for their continued confidence in his candidacy.
He said he was optimistic that the party would emerge victorious at the governorship election and usher in what he described as a new era of shared prosperity for Osun State.
This meeting came as political parties intensify campaigns across the state ahead of the August 15 poll, with the APC seeking to reclaim Osun through what party leaders described as a united regional effort anchored on cohesion, grassroots mobilisation and issue-based engagement.
